GENERAL FUNCTION
The supervisor manages all shift activities for the production of photochromic shields. You will oversee the day to day execution of scheduled production orders and shipment of finished goods. Responsibilities include ensuring all operators are properly trained and that established procedures are followed. You will work with staff in a variety of functions including, but not limited to operations, external and internal suppliers/customers, new product development, engineering, quality, safety, and facilities, sales & marketing. This role is critical in developing solutions to correct recurring issues and problems within operations. This includes optimizing daily production performance metrics (Safety Objectives, Yields, Quality, Customer Service Levels, Productivity, and Employee Engagement).
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct supervision of 10–15 team members
- Work in partnership with management and team members to ensure production and yield targets are met
- Role model for safe behaviors and immediate intervention to address unsafe work conditions and practices
- Facilitate & drive a strong team culture and employee engagement
- Responsible for key production metrics
- Provide first level technical leadership including troubleshooting, problem solving, incident investigation, and development of solutions to correct common issues to improve performance and reliability
- Communication of technical and general announcements during daily shift meetings
- Manage overtime and operators’ time & attendance
- Develop team members, conduct employee evaluations; coach, counsel and document progress
- All necessary administrative tasks and general administration of the shift
- Share relevant and timely information with other supervisors and operations manager
- Manage work flow / production logistics issues
- Coordinate line scheduling (production, R&D, maintenance, etc.)
- Maintain shift organizational tools: training matrix, performance metrics, procedures, i.e. PM schedules, loop changes, flushes
- Perform safety/housekeeping activities/audits and drive Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliance
- Perform training, oversee and track quality training modules, certifications, standards, etc.
- Coordinate equipment troubleshooting & repair
- Occasional support on off-shifts or weekends as required by business demands
- Must work around various chemicals
- May be required to become certified in various areas: Hazmat, forklift, chemical handling & CPR
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in specified areas including appropriate garments which adhere to GMP in clean rooms or other areas
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills, the ability to be open minded & engage others, think on feet and be flexible
- Ability to collaborate, troubleshoot & solve problems
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment with team lead experience
- Intermediate computer skills
- Able to lift 10 lbs. occasionally throughout the day, up to 25 lbs. infrequently
