Job Description:
- 2-year contract with the possibility of extending or converting to permanent based on performance and budget.
- The Anatomic Pathology group within the Profiling & Expression department is seeking a motivated, experienced scientist with experience in digital image analysis on digital pathology images to support discovery and translational research in our pathology group in South San Francisco. The Successful Candidate will:
- Perform image preprocessing tasks according to established SOPs, including metadata extraction, output quality control, and secure data transfer to cloud storage.
- Assist in evaluating and implementing new algorithms to enhance the image analysis pipeline, such as cell segmentation improvements, tissue classification, and cell phenotyping.
- Assist with the transfer of data and image-related information for analysis, facilitating smooth collaboration between teams.
- Coordinating with IT to
- Gather and document feedback from users on image analysis workflows and tools.
- Address user pain points, define requirements, and improve tool functionality.
- Lead user experience testing, working with IT to implement improvements and optimize tools for production use
- Maintain and update image analysis computers to ensure they remain optimized for routine tasks
- Define and document requirements for new tools and ensure their successful deployment.
- Provide administrative support for multiplex IHC related work, including reagent ordering, capital equipment purchasing, document and maintain SOPs for image processing and analysis workflows.
- Interact smoothly with scientists, computer scientists, and informatics/IT staff, both internally and externally
- B.S with minimum 5+ years'; Masters with 3+ years'; PHD with 1-2 years' of relevant work experience in industry or academia
- Experience using digital image analysis software and spatial imaging platforms such as HALO, Visiopharm, QuPath, digital slide scanning, multiplex spectral imaging, Akoya Polaris, Phenocycler/Fusion.
- Strong organizational abilities and communication skills
- Programming skills with application in imaging (e.g. Python, MATLAB) data
- Experience with immunohistochemistry and multiplexed immunofluorescence assay development
- Experience with version control environments, such as Git
- Experience with high-performance Linux cluster and cloud computing
- Familiarity with client--servers and cloud computing infrastructure
- Comfort with histology/microanatomy
- Background in oncology and/or immunology.
