About this position
We are looking for a dynamic, collaborative, and highly motivated professional to join our transport team in Washington, DC, to provide operations and research support of the Transport Division portfolio.
The Transport Division has the operational responsibility in the IDB to finance transport and infrastructure solutions in borrowing member countries that promote efficient, accessible, affordable, safe, and sustainable transportation systems, to improve the quality of life and economic development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
What you'll do:
- Contribute as a team member in the design operations for all modes of transportation, with emphasis on projects that positively impact the economic, sustainable, and social development.
- Contribute to the execution, administrative management, and technical support of complex loan operations and technical assistance programs; conduct field visits.
- Develop and apply innovative sector analytic work to support the preparation of country, sector, and regional strategies, loan operations, and technical assistance programs in the transport area.
- Provides technical solutions of corrective action to address operational challenges with executing agencies and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Division Chief and Division's Execution Headgroup to assist in monitoring the division's operations.
- Look for opportunities to improve our performance and work effectiveness by managing project teams and resources effectively.
- Take actions to promote the priorities of the transport sector based on the Institutional Strategy and regional needs.
- Prepare briefings, technical inputs and dynamic presentations for TSP management.
- Provide inputs and recommendations to reports prepared for TSP management.
- Perform trend analysis with several databases to monitor operations, identify risks and develop action plans.
What you'll need:
- Education: Masters' level degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Economics, Engineering, Transport, Political Sciences, Business Administration or other related fields.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of international professional experience in the execution, supervision and evaluation of transportation projects.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

Requirements
· Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
· Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, includingspouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
- International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
