- In the absence of the Transportation Director, approves purchases, supervises office staff, and makes decisions when necessary to continue operating the transportation department in a smooth manner.
- Responsible for overseeing transportation services in PACS service areas.
- Responsible for planning and coordinating of transportation pre-routes and evaluation of transportation.
- Assist the Transportation Director in any areas delegated, i.e. preparation of funding applications.
- Assists and oversees the training and evaluation of PACS drivers and escorts in each county in accordance with federal, state, and local program regulations.
- Assist in procurement and processing of new vehicles.
- Oversee and supervise County Managers
- Oversee the maintenance and arrangement of maintenance of agency vehicles in each county following established policies and procedures including annual State safety inspections
- Assist the Transportation Director in establishing and implementing marketing plan to include a program of public information to familiarize public with the goals and objectives of PACS.
- Maintains contact with area social service, health, education, and other related organizations, to assist with efforts toward coordination of transportation services within the service area.
- With assistance of Transportation Director and Human Resources Director, assure compliance with the regulations as related to vehicle maintenance and safety, driver records and drug testing requirements.
- With assistance of Transportation Director and Human Resources Director, assure understanding of all company policies and procedures with employees to maintain a safe, drug-free and EEO emphasized workplace.
- Attends meetings for the Transportation Director if he/she is not available.
- Ensure good customer service and customer relationships with clients (riders), agencies, vendors, subordinates/colleagues, other policy-makers and the general public.
- Other job duties as requested by the Transportation Director.
- Communication, both written and verbal
- Satisfactory background check and drug screen before hire and ongoing
- High School diploma or GED, additional business training preferred
- Access to automobile and willing to travel within service area as necessary
