Job Description:
Drivers are responsible for the operation of vehicles and for the safe and orderly transportation of passengers to and from their destinations. Work includes completion of daily pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle, fueling, maintaining cleanliness of vehicle, maintaining accurate trip records, assisting passengers as required, radio communications, and any other related duties as assigned. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a variety of records, such as time at each stop, number of passengers per trip, mileage, and vehicle maintenance needs.
Responsibilities/duties:
- Safe and orderly transportation of passengers.
- Daily pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle.
- Fueling.
- Maintaining cleanliness of vehicle.
- Maintaining accurate trip records.
- Assisting passengers as required.
- Radio communications.
- Any other related duties as assigned.
- Independent judgment must be exercised in handling unusual situations arising with passengers.
Requirements:
- Follow instructions and complete comprehensive driver training program.
- Possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam including pre-employment drug test.
- able to obtain a CDL (commercial driver license) if necessary.
- able to certify in special needs assistance training, defensive driver training, CPR, and first aid.
- have a clean driving record.
- able to perform all duties associated with operating a vehicle and be physically able to lift 50 lb.
- Observes all traffic laws, especially those related to public transportation; ensures that all passengers wear seat belts and follow safety regulations.
- Must be courteous, dependable, and be able to relate to people of all ages, economic and ethnic backgrounds.
- possess the ability to read, write, and do basic math to understand operational procedures and complete required reports accurately.
Hours: Open Availability.
