About the Job
It is an operation position responsible for both Transportation Management and Fleet Management. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: managing and overseeing routing, dispatch, shipping, and fleet maintenance; hire, supervising, and reviewing the performance of all transportation staff; maintaining compliance with government regulations, safety, and security of the Transportation department; new project and business implementation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delivery and Transportation
Supervise dispatchers and ensure all duties are carried out promptly and efficiently
Ensure deliveries are executed efficiently and on time
Review Daily Delivery Report to identify areas of improvement and implement an improvement plan
Work closely with Buyers to schedule pick-ups of products.
Plan and manage routing for all drivers
Answer questions/concerns from drivers, including but not limited to company policies and procedures, dispatch rules, driver's manual, safety procedures
Ensure all drivers complete the necessary paperwork (Manifest, DOT logs, etc.)
Monitor delivery progress; ensure delivery windows compliance; notify management and customers of any delay and issue.
Fleet Management
Manage preventative Maintenance Program through regularly scheduled vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and BIT program regulations.
Schedule regular vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, battery checks, tire repair, brake adjustment, and any maintenance needed to guarantee the safe operation of Daylight Food's fleet.
Secure replacement rental vehicles, as necessary, to avoid disruption of delivery schedule.
Ensure that all proper vehicle registrations, insurance documents, and internal accident reports are included in each vehicle's Accident Binder.
Ensure that all drivers maintain the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the fleet.
Conduct an Accident Investigation for any accident involving Daylight Foods vehicles, ensuring that accident reporting procedures are followed, and corrective actions are taken.
Conduct new driver safety orientation and monthly safety training for drivers.
Maintain an inventory of supplies (oil, fluids, etc.) at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES:
Ability to manage the pressure associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere and customer service issues.
Demonstrate skills in making independent decisions in support of company policies and procedures on time
Ability to solve practical and analytical problems.
Ability to prepare and attend to any internal and external audits.
Ability to stoop frequently, kneel and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 80 pounds
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
Three years in the trucking industry, warehousing
Previous experience in managing DOT drivers
A minimum of 3 years of experience in Fleet Maintenance preferred
Broad understanding of Federal and State regulations regarding the transportation
Experience in the use of all material handling equipment
Strong knowledge of San Francisco and the Bay Area preferred
Forklift certification, class A or B preferred
