About the Job
The Safety Specialist will interact with our drivers to help them understand the importance of operating the fleet safely. They will coordinate repairs and maintenance of the units and communicate any downtime with dispatch. The specialist will also perform safety audits on the drivers. They will also monitor the drivers using Elogs and the truck’s camera systems to ensure we operate in a safe manner and remain DOT compliant. The Safety Specialist must have good time management and communication skills. Pay is $45,000.00-$55,000.00/yr.
Responsibilities:- Perform Fleet and Safety inspections on Drivers and Transportation equipment.
- Review telematics management system for DOT Compliance.
- Facilitate communication between drivers and dispatch on needed repairs and/or maintenance to fleet vehicles.
- Review the on-board camera system and be able to effectively coach drivers on the alerts from the system.
- Participate in Safety meetings.
- Perform store safety visits for new sites and be able to compile detailed inspection reports for supervisor review.
- Assist with new hire safety orientation.
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent with two years fleet management and safety program experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge of basic work safety practices and OSHA regulations.
- Knowledge of DOT Compliance regulations and fuel transportation
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance issues, familiarity with basic mechanics/repair.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English and can speak effectively and prepare clearly and concise written reports.
- Must be able to respond to GPM involved accidents and emergencies in the assigned areas.
Driving and License Requirements: Must have own car, maintain a valid Driver’s license, good driving record and provide on-going proof of auto Liability insurance as mandated by state law.
