Cleveland, OH 44109
About the Job
The Department of Surgery at the MetroHealth System in Cleveland, Ohio, one of the Case Western Reserve University hospitals, is accepting applications for the position of Division Director for the Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burns, and Emergency General Surgery. MetroHealth is an academic safety-net public hospital and the flagship for Cleveland trauma care. There are currently 18 full-time faculty covering trauma, emergency general surgery, burns, and critical care, along with Advanced Practice Providers, residents, and medical students. Our team provides care to over 12,000 trauma activations across the system, with over 2000 trauma admissions to our Level I center. We also help staff and enhance trauma care at three affiliated hospitals around the region. The new Director will be responsible for clinical, educational, and research oversight of this busy and productive Division. Additionally, the Division Director will work closely with the Chair and institutional leadership to enhance and grow the MetroHealth trauma brand.
MetroHealth is an American College of Surgeons-verified Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center that provides coverage to Northeast Ohio and works within the Northeastern Ohio Trauma System (NOTS) to optimize care for the region.
Cleveland is a beautiful city that sits right on the shores of Lake Erie, affording wonderful multi-season water-based recreation. It houses the second largest theater district in the United States; every year more than one million theatergoers visit Playhouse Square, the 11-venue complex featuring beautifully restored vaudeville-style theaters. Plus, a thriving restaurant scene, as well as family-friendly neighborhoods make it an attractive city for any candidate. Finally, Cleveland is, of course, a sports town. It is the home of the Cleveland Browns (NFL) and Guardians (MLB), and Cavaliers (NBA).
Given the size and scope of the Division, MetroHealth is looking for an academic acute care surgeon with a strong clinical background, as well as demonstrated leadership in other key mission areas of education and research.
Requirements:
- Candidates must be board certified in general surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
- Candidates must either have or be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Ohio.
- Preference will be given to candidates with 7+ years of experience after training, a strong clinical research background, and evidence of a national presence in the field
- Candidates should be eligible to be hired at the Associate or Full Professor level at Case Western Reserve University.
- Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the value of diversity and inclusion and contribute to the organizational culture of mutual respect.
