- Maintains daily record of slides screened/hours worked at laboratory and slides screened/hours worked at any other outside employer per procedure manual.
- Maintains open communication with department supervisor, pathologist, and co-workers to ensure optimal operation of the department.
- Provides technical consultation for Cyto-processing technicians, assists in prep work when directed by Supervisor.
- Maintains high level of proficiency and current knowledge through continuing education.
- Complies with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
- Supports corporate policies and objectives, complies with quality assurance, safety, and environmental and infection control protocols.
- ???????Ensures clinical competency.
- Exhibits professional accountability.
- Supports departmental goals and objectives.
- Adheres to regulatory agency compliance.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of recent Cyto Tech experience required
- Cerner or EPIC experience preferred
- High School Diploma/GED
- At least one (1) of the following is: Required
- Bachelor of Science degree in cytotechnology, plus graduation from a school of cytotechnology accredited school.
- Bachelor of Science degree in a biological science, plus graduation from a school of cytotechnology accredited school.
- American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Certification
- Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff members.
