Job DetailsThe Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility of patients for a designated time frame and to provide care, specifically in the Heart & Vascular Institute.The patient population consists of those requiring an invasive cardiology or invasive radiology study.The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all procedures and provide a valuable service to the patient and the team.

Schedule InformationPerforms on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.Takes late shift duties as assigned to meet department needs.
Unit Specific InformationEssential Functions - Performs core responsibilities as a Radiologic Technologist such as administering contrast material, assisting with inventory, checking patient identification, compiling clinical information, documenting procedures, and following procedural nurse guidance.Department-Specific Job Functions - Working around and maintaining a sterile field during procedures, administrating and withholding contrast and treatment as appropriate, assessing patients for allergies, and pulling supplies for procedures.Cardiac Cath Lab Work - Involves procedures like left heart cath with or without coronary stenting, right heart cath, pericardiocentesis, vascular access under sterile procedures, structural heart procedures (TAVR, Watchman, Mitraclip, Triclip, ASD/PFO, CardioMEMs), hybrid peripheral vascular work, and using adjunctive tools (IVUS, FFR/iFR, Lithotripsy, Laser, Rota, Impella, IABP, OCT, CTO).
Additional DetailsAdministers contrast material (when applicable), according to physician's request, by means of existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.All functions and duties will be under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist.Assists with inventory/supplies.Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc.Assists in instruction of new staff as necessary.Documents accurately and completely.Explains procedure to patient and provides for patient care- including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.Accurately informs procedural nurse of correct doses of intra-procedural medications, radiation and sponge/sharp counts.
