- A hospital near Sacramento is looking for experienced MedSurg/Tele RN for a travel contract on the Surgical Acute unit.
- - Unit: 6T Surgical Acute
- - # beds: 30
- - EMR: Cerner
- - Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.
- - Nurse Aides: Yes as census and staffing dictates
- - Floating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen.
- - Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.
- - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Bariatric surgery, post vascular, total joints, general ortho.
Job Details
- The right candidate will have 2 years of experience
- - Ratios: 1:4-5. If patients on tele then 1:4.
- - Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
Job Requirements
- - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- - Holidays: Rotate in with core staff
- - Shifts: 12 hr shifts. Shift starts 645. Report is at the bedside. OT and extra shifts are available. Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it. Schedules are out 4 weeks. Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff. Block scheduling is generally not available.

Unit Specific Information
- Med Sol prescreens, offer off clinical prescreens, manager has 24 hours to rescind the offer, if necessary
- - Holiday RTO: Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years).
- Modules are required to be done before start of assignment. Modules take on average 3-4 hours to complete-this time is not billable to the hospital.
- - Additional Notes: Have lifts in a few rooms.;12hr Days, EOW, First to Float
