Responsibilities:The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing ultrasound scanning and handles any problems that may arise form patients discomfort to discussing cases with radiologist and referring physicians. Position and transfer patient to and from the ultrasound table using proper safety techniques. Prepare patient for examination and explain procedure to patient while performing study. Assist physicians during interventional procedures. Dispose of biomedical waste using CDC and OSHA guidelines. Maintain cleanliness of examining room and ultrasound machines. Differentiate artifacts from normal and pathological process. Correlate clinical history with the test performed. Prepare study for Radiologist reading utilizing PACS. Answer phones and give appointment, call floor to transport patient for test. Maintain adequate room supplies s/respiratory and suction tubing. Must follow all Federal, State and hospital health safety codes especially in reference to electrical and mechanical safety. Attend all required hospital in-service programs. Required address the ages of the patients served and produce expected results of clinical interventions.
Qualifications:Graduate of an approved school for Ultrasound Technology. ARDMS credential required if candidate has minimum of 2 years of experience; breast registry preferred. Knowledge of GE Ultrasound unit preferred. Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Manual dexterity for manipulating function of equipment. Communicate with patients and other Health professionals. Understand written and verbal instructions. Proficient in the use of MediTech, PACS.
