About the Job:Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for an Universal Banker. The successful candidate provides a consultative style of banking that builds client relationships based on trust and the demonstrated ability to identify financial needs and recommend appropriate solutions. Position is specifically responsible for assisting with branch operations, delivering a remarkable client experience, achieving sales and production goals, and handling transaction and service requests. Performs additional duties as assigned. Must be able to work in a team environment that requires attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and a passion for customer service.
MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Branch Operations
Assists with the daily oversight and coordination of branch operations. Adheres to organizational policy and procedures, especially as they pertain to audit, security, and compliance. Takes ownership of delegated tasks and responsibilities with a focus on maintaining acceptable audit scores and optimal branch performance metrics.
Client Experience
Provides a consistently remarkable client experience, representing the company in a courteous and professional manner at all times. Acts as a banking concierge by orchestrating solutions for all of a client’s needs and handling the client’s interaction from start to finish. Adheres to all required service standards and acts as role model for delivering the highest quality service. Promptly handles client requests and resolves client concerns, seeking assistance as needed.
Business Development
Opens deposit products, processes loan applications, cross-sells additional services, and generates referrals to other business lines. Conducts a thorough financial needs assessment with clients and recommends the most appropriate products and services to fulfill the clients’ immediate and future financial needs. Takes a leading role in achieving production goals, utilizing sales techniques such as profiling, active listening, and tele-consulting to generate business.
Transactions and Servicing
Processes transactions (check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, etc.), account maintenance, and other service requests in an accurate and efficient manner, while also taking advantage of these client interactions to identify new business opportunities. Maintains teller differences and cash levels within established guidelines.
Required Skills:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- If selected and hired for the position, continued employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of the required Training and Assessment.
- Position requires a minimum of 6 to 12 months work experience in a sales/service position, preferably in the financial services industry. A BA Degree in Finance, Business or related field is preferred. Applicable experience will be considered. Work requires broad professional level of knowledge and expertise in retail banking and relationship sales. Position requires extensive knowledge of bank products and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
- A high level of client service is integral to this role. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is comfortable interacting with external clients and centers of influence, as well as internal partners, and who excels at developing strong, trusting relationships. Must work well under tight deadlines and with multiple priorities.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and have strong attention to detail and follow-through. Must be organized and be able to multi-task. Ability to think quickly and respond appropriately.
- Ability to utilize standard PC based software to prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents as needed.
SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.
Exposed to a potentially hazardous condition of robbery. All Branch employees receive detailed instructions to be followed to minimize the risk.
Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.

Compensation Information:At Sandy Spring Bank, compensation is one part of our total rewards package. Compensation within the range will depend on your skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location.
