Utility Construction Project Estimator
Located in OakBrook Terrace, IL (Hybrid Remote)
1 year plus assignment (possible temp to perm hire)
Hybrid schedule: M&F from home / T,W,Th at the office.
Will perform Estimating for electric transmission, distribution and substation projects using an estimating software.
The client is willing to see an estimator from the general construction industry. But would prefer candidates who have transmission, distribution or substation construction experience and can quickly learn the estimating software.
Estimating Experience in the high voltage Electric Utility sector a plus.
Experience with WinEst, InEight, Hard Dollar, Sage, Timberline or related estimating software a plus.
Estimate electrical portion of projects within the ComEd scope of work.
Perform walkdowns of job if needed and develop estimates for manpower, duration and material.
Responsible for developing accurate and timely take-offs and estimates for various Project Managers.
General Job Description: Provide project controls Estimating support.
Utilize independent estimates to challenge contractor proposals Identify project/program scope, schedule, and budget issues early and developing resolutions to ensure the successful execution of projects and programs.
Provide Phase 1, 2, and 3 level estimates Prepare estimates and cash flows in support of authorization presentations Provide historical estimate accuracy report of complete projects and program and update parametric unit rates as needed Prepare standard WBS estimates and assumptions with confidence factors ranging from study to construction phases of the project.
Develop unit cost and parametric estimate range for standard scope of work.
Review the basis of an estimate during Project Estimate Challenge meetings.
Incorporate project actuals into estimating methodology in order to ensure continuous improvement.
Report project actuals against estimate at project completion Work with the project managers to ensure that the estimates are properly challenged and reviewed.
We do estimates based on phases and therefore the accuracy is different based on the phases.
- Range of projects estimated: $100k and up (through $50mil+)
Manage on a daily basis from 15-20 estimates at various project phases.
o Able to handle a high work load in a fast paced environment
o Good interpersonal communication skills (interaction with PM and other stakeholders on the project up to and including estimates)
