The Knot Worldwide is seeking a Head of Product Data Science and Analytics to spearhead our data science and analytics function. This is a unique opportunity to lead a large team working on a product with millions of users across 16 countries, with a well-known brand, complex dynamics, and a broad product scope. As a strategic collaborator with the Product team, you will co-ideate product solutions and tackle data-related challenges in areas such as marketplace, ecommerce, ads, content, and customer tools. You will also focus on enhancing the user and vendor experience by leveraging data-driven insights and experimentation. In this role, you will oversee a team of data scientists and analysts who will be integrated into product squads, working closely with designers, product managers, and engineers.
AS THE HEAD OF DATA SCIENCE & ANALYTICS, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Managing a team of data scientists and analysts, providing them with guidance, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
- Collaborating with product managers, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to define the data science and analytics vision, strategy, and roadmap for our Product.
- Overseeing the design, development, deployment, and evaluation of data science solutions and machine learning models in production, ensuring they are aligned with business objectives and user needs.
- Leading the design and analysis of A/B testing and other experimentation methods to measure the impact of product changes and new features using our internal experimentation platform.
- Collaborating with teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish strategic goals that align with the company's objectives.
- Building and maintaining dashboards and reports using BI tools to communicate insights and recommendations to various audiences within the organization.
- Leveraging self-service analytics tools, such as Mixpanel, Fullstory, and Amplitude, to enable teams to access and explore data independently and efficiently.
- Leading the design and governance of behavioral tracking, ensuring accurate and comprehensive tracking of user interactions, events, and behaviors to enable testing and data-driven decision-making.
- Establishing best practices and standards for data science and analytics across the organization, including data quality, data governance, data ethics, and data literacy.
SUCCESSFULL CANDIDATES HAVE:
- A master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in data science and analytics roles in online companies, preferably in a two-sided marketplace or ecommerce domain.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing data science and analytics teams in an agile environment.
- A strong background in machine learning, statistics, optimization, experimentation, causal inference, and data visualization.
- A proven track record of delivering data science solutions that have a positive impact on product performance and user satisfaction.
- A deep understanding of the product development lifecycle and how data science and analytics can support it at every stage.
- A high level of proficiency in Python or R, SQL, and other data science tools and frameworks.
- Experience with self-service analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Fullstory, Amplitude) and BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik Sense).
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
