The V.P. Finance"s (VPF) role is pivotal in driving Maverick"s financial growth and success by providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring effective financial management, and guiding financial decision-making processes. You will have a significant impact on shaping our financial strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring the long-term financial health of the organization. This position reports directly to the CEO and COO.Oversees Finance department which is responsible for financial and accounting deliverables in support of company"s overall financial strategies.* Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Finance team in alignment with the goals. Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance finance operations and services.* Responsible for ensuring business continuity requirements are met for the Finance team operations function.*Prepare and present accurate and prompt financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to senior management.Financial Strategy and Planning:* Develop and execute the company's financial strategy to support overall business goals and objectives.* Provide financial insights and recommendations to the COO and executive team to drive profitability and growth.* Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic initiatives.* Perform financial analysis on campaigns and initiatives to ensure company objectives are achieved.* Review financial results and key metrics with key stakeholders, assess and quantify risks, monitor deliverables, and recommend actions to improve profitability and financial position. Financial Management:* Oversee all financial activities, including accounting, budgeting, treasury, tax compliance and payroll.* Monitor and analyze financial performance, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.* Establish and maintain strong internal controls and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.* Management of daily and monthly settlement activity with company"s sponsoring banks for company"s various fintech products such as acquiring and ACH.* Negotiate and/or review vendor contracts.* Management of residuals and commissions paid out to company"s reseller and various sales or referral partners.* Liaise with outside accountants for the timely completion of Company"s Annual Review.* Review monthly financial reporting from processors to ensure income and expenses are computed accurately.* Collaborate with collections, legal and risk teams to address and mitigate merchant-related losses.* Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to proactively address potential risks. Financial Reporting* Prepare and file appropriate local, state and federal regulatory filings.* Oversee and manage month end and annual financial reports for Board.* Prepare and update monthly financial forecasts.* Monitor KPIs to ensure established targets are achieved.* Prepare timely reporting on portfolio losses* Manage portfolio analysis to identify merchants and/or agents are being properly billed* Working on projects as needed and assigned by Company leadership.* Prepare models and analyses on an ad hoc basis. * Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Identify training and development needs to enhance team skills and knowledge.* Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide guidance and development opportunities.* Promote a strong ethical and compliance culture within the finance department and across the organization. Supporting specialized projects on as-needed basis as directed by Department or Company leadership.* Other duties as assigned.
Required:* Bachelor"s in finance, Accounting, or a related field.* Experience working as a Controller, CFO or similar role, preferably for a financial services company within the Fintech space with a minimum of 100 employees.* Demonstrable ability to manage accounting and collection Departments at a growing organization.* Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Preferred:* A master"s degree in finance or CPA Certification.Skills/Abilities:* In-depth knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and financial analysis.* Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in the financial services industry.* Demonstrated ability to understand business strategies and link them to financial initiatives and drivers.* Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.* Proficient in managing people, projects, and tasks with a focus on responsiveness and prioritization* Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities* Proficiency with MS Office Suite including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.* Ability to quickly learn Company systems, proficiency with technology generally (including Microsoft Office Suite and related).* Understanding of federal, state and local financial regulations, specifically in California, but inclusive of other states in which Company has a presence.* Knowledgeable in point-of-sale systems and related peripherals.*Understanding of various verticals and associated risks.* Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to liaise with team members and leadership of various levels.* Demonstrates leadership qualities with the ability to effectively guide and motivate team members to achieve project objectives.*Ability to ensure that one's own and other's work and information are complete and accurate. The ability to carefully prepare for meetings and presentations.*The ability to follow up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled.*Understanding emerging technologies and trends in the payments space and understand how an organization must change considering internal and external trends and influences.May travel locally as needed.
