Education
Current enrollment in the final semester of a Master’s program at an accredited college or university leading to a Master’s Degree in social work or a Master’s Degree that meets the education requirements for a Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor license issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.
Experience
One (1) year of social work experience with a public or non-profit agency with experience working with vulnerable and underserved groups.
Experience in counseling, facilitating support groups and conducting participant assessments is preferred.
Experience in adult day support services (health) or residential services is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to safely perform all physical and manual movements needed for job functions.
Must be able to carry out job instructions promptly and willingly, and to follow established procedures accurately.
Must be flexible, positive and cooperative in solving problems and working with other staff in constantly changing and sometimes stressful circumstances.
Must be able to move around the facility as well as sit at a workstation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Qualifications
Experience working with populations that are diverse in age, gender, sexual orientation, race, and ethnicity.
Experience working with trauma survivors and those experiencing mental illness.
Sensitivity in working with patients with complex psychosocial and substance abuse problems.
Experience doing case management, outreach, and home visits.
Able to move between different treatment approaches (clinical case management versus evidence-based, trauma-focused psychotherapy) depending on the needs of the client.
Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency’s DEI Initiative.
Valid California driver’s license and auto insurance required. Travel between all housing sites is required (mileage reimbursed)
Driver history report which meets company insurance requirements to drive company vehicle and complete a provided driver training course upon hire.
Skills
Excellent documentation and clinical skills, ability to set priorities, work independently, excellent follow-up, work well under pressure and deadlines.
Excellent organizational and strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability
