Vice President of Compliance and Privacy Officer
American Senior Communities is seeking an attorney with ten or more years of pertinent legal and/or compliance experience to serve as the enterprise-wide privacy officer and to generally support all aspects of ASC’s Compliance Program. This individual must have excellent judgment, consistently display professionalism, and maintain a high degree of credibility, independence, integrity and confidentiality. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also required.
This position will be on site at the ASC Home Office in Indianapolis, IN. Candidates will be required to reside in or relocate to the Greater Indianapolis area.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the enterprise-wide Privacy Officer overseeing the development, review, updating, and implementation of policies, procedures, business practices, and guidelines that are compliant with state and federal laws and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to the laws and regulations that govern privacy (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
- Help develop, revise, update, and implement compliance policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, and best practices to support compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Support the CCO in developing, implementing, and updating a formal written Compliance Program and managing the day-to-day operation of the Compliance Program.
- Support the maintenance of records documenting the Company’s compliance-related activities, including, but not limited to, audits, investigations, and compliance-related training and education.
- Develop, implement, and manage effective risk minimization privacy and general compliance programs to fulfill ASC’s needs and to meet regulatory requirements.
- Complete privacy reviews, audits, and risk assessments.
- Oversee the development and execution of enterprise-wide compliance training.
- Respond to alleged violations of law, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and the Code of Conduct, and ensure requisite reporting of privacy violations (or possible violations) in accordance with law and regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and oversee or support periodic risk assessments.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor Degree
- Active and unencumbered law license
- Ten+ years practicing law and/or working in healthcare compliance preferred.
