POSITION SUMMARY
Incumbent provides timely, non-judgmental, compassionate victim services advocating for the victims of sexual assault (SA), domestic violence (DV), and intimate partner violence (IPV) victims. Assists supervisor in performing a variety of duties in support of the program. The incumbent is responsible for identifying individual victim needs and collaborates with community resources to fulfill these needs such as medical accompaniment, crisis intervention, shelter, legal advocacy, referrals, and general advocacy and support. Responsibilities also include coordination and collaboration with the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). Provides oversight and compliance with reporting required demographic information and data collection. Ensures compliance with monthly reports. Monitors community, county, regional and state advocacy meetings, and programs. Assists in establishment and administrative procedures to meet program goals, objectives and requirements set by management. The victim advocate is expected to follow TCRHCC’s policies, procedures, and established program protocols. Ensures daily operations of advocacy services and client confidentiality. This is a grant funded position.
Qualifications:NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Associate degree in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, or a health care related field
Certification:
- Must have Victim Advocacy training certificate and/or complete within 60 days of hire
- Must maintain a current valid certification of the following throughout employment:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire
- Must have and maintain a current unrestricted Driver’s license
Experience:
- One (1) year of demonstrated experience with victim advocacy, crisis intervention, or social service work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works independently, or with minimal direction, in performing office duties in a responsible and confidential matter.
- Provides crisis intervention, support, advocacy, community resource information, and referrals for victims of sexual assault.
- Conducts an immediate Needs Assessment, provides service, information and referrals to other community services.
- Provides and offers emotional support to the victim and assists them with safety planning.
- Coordinates interviews between investigating officers and victims. Provides support to victims and their family during interviews; explains the criminal justice system and victim’s rights.
- Ensures the victim has information and knowledge to enable them to make informed decisions.
- Provides on-going follow-up with the victim to determine disposition status and track referrals.
- Responsible for data entry and maintenance of monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to client services, statistics, case disposition and other services provided by the Program.
- Assists with program Outreach activities and works with the SANE and SART team.
- Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule with on-call and administrative time.
- Develop and review service plans in consultation with clients and perform follow-up, assessing the quantity and quality of services provided.
- Respond and react to crisis response and/or walk-in client needs.
- Participates in team, community, quality assurance review meetings and programs as assigned.
- Requires meeting strict deadlines.
- Participate in professional development, including SART meetings, conferences, and in-services.
- Ensure Proper PPE is used at all times while on duty. Face surgical mask is to be worn in all hospital areas. Proper handwashing is required. If water is not available use hand sanitizer. Social distancing will be practiced by department.
- Proper PPE is used inside assigned Clinics or Units. NIOSH- approved N95 Masks filtering face piece respirator or higher, if available, this includes eye or face shields, gloves, and isolation gowns.
- Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. Complete provided training.
- Completes all electronic health record entries accurately and timely pertinent to patient care role.
- Participates in departmental workflow and or testing teams as related to electronic health record or other project initiatives.
- Other projects and responsibilities may be added and/or changed at the discretion of the Program Director.

Physical:
Work is mostly sedentary, must be able to sit for prolong periods of time with occasional reaching with hands and arms, standing, walking, driving, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and twisting, must also be able to frequently maintain balance. Position requires ability for prolonged near vision, color vision, depth perception, seeing fine details, hearing normal speech, hearing overhead pages, frequent far and near vision and telephone use. The work requires the ability to carry items such as charts, books, papers, and related documents or files. Must be able to lift up to 10lbs for a prolonged period of time, and lift, push and pull over 100lbs as needed. Position requires prolong repetitive motion actions in both hands with simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands while meeting deadlines.

Must accept a flexible schedule to meet unit needs.
Environment:
This position typically works in an environmental controlled indoor sedentary setting with rare intermittent need to work in outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is typically moderate level. May be exposed to infectious diseases for a prolonged period of time with occasional exposure to chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, extremes in temperature or humidity, hazardous or moving equipment, unprotected heights and loud noises.
