- Job Summary
- Under the general direction of the Director, the Wellness Counselor functions as a Wellness Counselor. Responsibilities include developing and conducting individual exercise programs, fitness testing, and health education for McDowell Wellness Center. Provides supervision and instruction in use of exercise equipment. Teaches regularly scheduled group fitness classes. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service and Trust).
- Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort
The task of this job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues but employment may require performing supplemental tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Requires moderate to heavy physical exertion on a regular basis. Requires moderate and heavy moving of objects regularly. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently.
- Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or other fitness related area required.
- Experience: Experience in Rehabilitation Services, Wellness, or Fitness Center preferred. Experience with fitness assessments and fitness program development.
- EQUIPMENT USED / SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Maintain knowledge or proper use and requirements of all exercise equipment. Knowledge in proper cleanliness of machines and equipment.
- Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
- First Aid/Current CPR certified.
