Portage County Health & Human Services is hiring a part-time, 36 hrs / week, WIC Supervisor. This position is considered part-time, however, it is eligible for the same benefits as a full-time employee!
Starting salary: $59,753.11 / yr
Summary of Position:
This position administers and manages public health nutrition programming including all aspects of the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program, Fit Families, and Farmers Market Nutrition Programs. It assures nutrition services for CYSHCN (Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs), Prenatal Care Coordination Program, and related Maternal and Child Health (MCH) programs. This position also provides supervision for the Wisconsin Well Woman Program Coordinator, including case management billing and reimbursement support. It collaborates with agency and community partners in consultation, in-service and allied program planning and services. This position is active in the Community Health Improvement Plan and assures nutrition programs address prevention and chronic disease prevention. Provides after hour support. It may assume statutory duties of the Health Officer when appointed.
What are the primary job duties of the position?
Directs Public Health Nutrition Programming
- Assess community needs for nutrition programming. WIC projects needs and participants health and nutrition status.
- Addresses issues of public health nutrition, develops programs and partnerships for primary prevention activities.
- Communicate with agency management and key community leaders to assure access to adequate and appropriate nutrition relative to the community.
- Develop policies and procedures and institute quality assurance measures.
- Integrate and coordinate with local care providers for integrated health care.
- Provides nutrition consultation to at risk and high risk individuals.
- Conducts strategic planning for program
Fiscal Management
- Prepares, submits, and assumes fiscal accountability for annual section budget.
- Prepares and submits oral and written reports and evaluates program outcomes.
- Writes grants and secures funding for Nutrition Programming.
- Evaluates programs for effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability.
- Interviews, recommends hiring, recommends termination, trains and evaluates staff.
- Supervise, plan, coordinate and evaluate the work of staff, volunteers and student interns.
What are the minimum qualifications?
- Bachelor degree in Nutritional Sciences required; Master's degree preferred
- Registered Dietitian required
- certified dietitian required
- Two years supervisory experience preferred
- Two years experience with high-risk populations (children with special health care needs, obstetrics, women’s health, pediatrics) preferred
- Two years of Public Health experience preferred
- Valid Wisconsin motor vehicle operator’s license and access to insured vehicle for work-related travel
- Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities
