Duties and Responsibilities
What is this role about?
As a driver, material handling, attention to detail and safety are your primary focus. Your days
will be spent driving and stopping to unload deliveries, while representing G&L in-person. Not
only will you engage with our customers on a daily basis, but you will see them weekly. Being
professional and courteous at all times will directly impact our customers and reflect on the
values that G&L Materials stands for.

Primary duties: These are reflective of those typically performed by an employee in this
position. Other duties may be required.
● Make deliveries to customers (including weekly overnight trips).
● Check delivered items against packing lists.
● Handle long-length materials (12'+)
● Utilize materials handling equipment, including a forklift.
● Maintain G&L's reputation when communicating and interacting with customers.

● Maintain proficiency with operating commercial trucks and trailers
● Ensure vehicles are clean and well-maintained.
● Review each stop, plan route, note special instructions, addresses and resolve any known
potential problems before starting a trip.
● Complete daily vehicle safety checks and record vehicle inspection reports.
● Deliver materials in a safe manner and within agreed upon time frame.
● Communicate with dispatch: report all pick-up and delivery issues and record
information on paperwork.
● Follow company policies and participate in a safe working environment.
What do I need to be successful?
● Have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record; no more than one
major violation in the last 5 years. CDL is not required, but encouraged.
● Proficient in driving commercial trucks and trailers with 3 years of experience
● Must be able to lift and carry heavy material (up to 75 lbs), climb and stoop to reach
material, bend at the waist, kneel or crouch for extended periods of time, and reach
overhead and above the shoulders.
● Knowledge of mobile device/tablet for electronic logging.
● Good oral and written communication skills.
● Pass pre-employment drug screening and DOT physical exam
● High school diploma or equivalent
