The Watch Engineer will serve at the Power Plant Building E, and perform duties associated with the operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air-conditioning and heating equipment.
Responsibilities
Operate mechanical/electrical equipment and machinery on an assigned watch, tour the Power Plant Building E and operating machinery, complete repairs, or perform Preventive Maintenance functions.
Perform watches and tours, making adjustments and minor repairs to mechanical and electrical equipment and component parts of heating and air-conditioning systems and auxiliary support equipment.
Make physical inspections of equipment and test equipment for correct operation of all components of the refrigeration cycle and other relevant factors contributing to the proper and efficient operation of HVAC systems
Receive customer complaints after normal building times
Ensure proper and efficient performance of operating equipment during an assigned watch, conduct physical inspections of equipment, and perform such tasks as oiling and greasing, testing for refrigerant leaks, proper functioning of controls, and determines when auxiliary system components need to be brought "on-line" to maximize equipment load balance and to maintain acceptable indoor environmental conditions
Engage in observing and testing this equipment for correct operation of all components of the refrigeration cycle and other relevant factors contributing to the proper and efficient operation of the heating and air-conditioning systems
Perform repairs to ventilating, refrigeration, and heating equipment and components.
Check steam pressure reducing stations, vacuum pumps and sump pumps.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Possess a valid DC 1st Class Steam Engineers License
Minimum four (4) years of experience within the past six (6) years with direct personnel responsible to perform the work required under the contract
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of "Watches," "Tours," "Preventive Maintenance" guides, manufacturers' operations and repair manuals, and any applicable directives and instructions.
