AXIENT is looking for a Web Application Engineer for Operational Energy in the Space Domain – Supporting OSD Operational Energy Innovation Office in operational energy portfolios and related projects to develop multi-domain and Space operational energy modeling, simulation, and visualization effects. Modeling projects will focus on the space domain and its integration with sea, air, land, and cyberspace as they are supporting and supported in cross domain effects. Objective is toolkit development to aid representation of new/future military capabilities in wargames. The analyst will work with military operators and acquirers to improve the flow of information between them. Implementation of classified capabilities as needed.
Technologies, capabilities, and oversight of Service projects will include:
- U.S. and DOD operational energy innovation science and technology (S&T) policy considerations, understanding of proposed Service future force structures and resulting operational energy needs and available energy technologies and capabilities to meet those needs.
- Objective is to maximize operational energy availability and flexibility to operations of future domestic force structures and to enhance the ability of operational energy technologies to enhance and enable future force structure capabilities.
- Engineer will collaborate with the development team to build a digital framework with which to execute military wargames, emphasizing integration of the space domain. This individual will be supporting the OSD Operational Energy Innovation office, its various energy portfolios, the U.S. Space Force, and other tasks as assigned.

What you will do...:
SUPPORTING AIR AND SPACE EFFICIENCY TASKS WILL INCUDE
- Axient seeks researchers and analysts to join our team working Department of Defense (DOD) operational energy and space energy innovation related projects.
- The candidate(s) will work for Axient in support of DOD operational energy assigned portfolios/projects, to enhance effectiveness and efficiencies within and across the domains of Space, Air, Land, Sea, and Cyberspace
- Candidates will apply research, technology, engineering, and writing skills in support of this mission. As requested, the candidate will provide documentation regarding software technical and operational performance, risk, and suitability. Specific efforts include but are not limited to:
• Support research on current and future operational energy technologies and innovations as directed by government program managers and/or project leaders with government organizations and industry.
• Develop software solutions to aid dialogue and collaboration between military operators and military acquirers.
• Support development of operational energy innovation training and education software.
• Collaborate with government labs, academia, industry, and across DoD entities (Services etc.) to identify software requirements and specifications.
• Design algorithms and flowcharts to create new software programs and systems.
• Produce efficient and well-documented code based on stakeholder-driven requirements and specifications.
• Test and prepare programs and applications for release to the DoD.
• Troubleshoot, debug, maintain, and improve software.
• Maintain strict and well documented version control, particularly as it relates to the current and previous releases of our wargaming framework.
• Work with the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) and other Service M&S offices.
• Compile and assess user feedback from OSD leadership and stakeholders while participating in DoD wargames.
• Produce technical documentation to guide future development efforts.
• Support briefings and meetings as needed to meet Service and OSD Operational Energy Innovation Office objectives.
• Support organizational meetings and associated communities of interest by coordinating, conducting, and documenting operational energy innovation research with particular emphasis on the Space Domain.
• Track completion of assigned actions and generate written/graphical materials and documents as required.
• Assist and/or follow/support other administrative requirements necessary for the efficient management of assigned projects.
• Provide project insights to leaders as they are discovered.
• Support other efforts and tasks as directed by OSD government customer and assigned project leader.
• Support the exploration of advanced energy innovation technologies and their applications across all domains, particularly the evaluation of Space technology roadmaps.

WORK LOCATION AND TRAVEL
Work location is Government site at the Pentagon.
Alternate sites may include Melbourne FL.
Remote work is authorized as approved by the OSD A&S Customer
Work will include some travel, estimated at 10% to 20% to various locations around the U.S.
Work may include overseas travel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work requires travel to attend meetings, conferences.
Travel will include site visits to remote locations with unimproved surfaces and the ability to climb over industrial surfaces, ascend and descend stairs and navigate open gantries to observe advanced technologies.
Travel may include overseas locations requiring a current passport.
Light lifting to move displays and technology mock-ups may be required.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
Work will range from unclassified to TS; candidate must be clearable to the TS level, current active TS/SCI preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS
Requires 5 years’ experience in modeling & simulation and/or software development in the SPACE industry.
- At least 3 years’ experience supporting the DoD preferred
- BS/BA Required
- Satellite guidance, navigation, & control experience preferred
- Master’s Degree (MS/MA) highly preferred—can substitute for 2 years’ job experience
- Active-duty experience is highly desired
- C++ programming and AFSIM experience highly desired
- SysML experience and/or certification highly desired
