About the role
What you"ll do
- Write clean and well-documented code
- Develop responsive, standards-compliant websites for our clients
- Work with PHP, Drupal, Wordpress, and other open-source platforms, as well as JavaScript frameworks
- Collaborate with the rest of the tech team to create, optimize, and uphold good development processes
- Work closely with other departments to ensure that technical implementations align with overall project objectives
- Evaluate designs, wireframes and other deliverables for development feasibility and collaborate with designers as needed
- Contribute to cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure consistent display in major supported browsers on Mac, PC, iOS and Android
- Fix bugs and issues on existing sites
- Stay on top of current and upcoming technical trends
Qualifications
- Expert HTML, Sass/CSS, and Javascript skills with full understanding of web standards and responsive design techniques
- Proficient in PHP, including object-oriented PHP, with more than three years experience
- Understanding of jQuery and other JavaScript libraries
- Experienced with version control (Git preferred)
- Working knowledge of Drupal or WordPress theme development
- Experience with MySQL or other open-source database applications
- Experience with basic system administration in a distributed LAMP environment
- Familiarity with other programming languages and content management systems
- Familiarity with web service technologies such as REST and JSON (i.e. open graph, twitter, and other third party APIs)
- Experience configuring and theming Shopify sites
- Experience working with large databases and user systems
- Basic understanding of SEO and accessibility best practices
- Active participation in the open source community
- Ability to estimate time and level of effort for development tasks
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
- Initiative to solve problems on your own
- Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize accordingly
