Summary
Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing provincial highway and facility electrical systems including flashing beacons and lighting systems in coordination with roadway maintenance activities per standards and conditions specified in the contract and as directed by the supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Creates safe traffic control by setup and removal of traffic control devices in accordance with MUTCD.
- Operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of multi-level highway and facility electrical systems, highway illumination systems, electronic message signs, high and low voltage power distribution equipment and solar systems.
- Use advanced troubleshooting skills to accurately perform maintenance and fault diagnostics required to ensure uninterrupted services to the operating systems.
- Safety comes first! Required to complete work in a safe, efficient and accurate manner.

Qualifications
- Ability to cooperate and communicate with co-workers and supervisor.
- Ability to consistently follow company and safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply divide, calculate proportions, percentages, measurements).
- Ability to understand instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, electrical system plans and procedure manuals.
- Familiarity with hand tools and specialty power equipment required.
- Capability of working in an environment in which demands and priorities change rapidly.
- Ability to speak and understand Basic English.
- Highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability.
- Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers safety instructions.
- Ability to think clearly and focus on your safety in your immediate surroundings, while using tools and equipment, while driving or operating equipment.
- You will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job.
- HS Diploma or GED minimum requirement.
- 5 years of demonstrated experience in electrical system and facilities maintenance at Journeyman Level or higher. (Preferred)
- Experience with computer-based maintenance management systems (Preferred)
- All other duties as assigned.
Licenses and Certifications
- Position requires you to maintain a Valid US Driver's License.
- Certified for operation of aerial devices used for electrical work.
- Master Electrician License. (Required)
- Capability to set and adjust timing on any traffic signal controller type within the work area
- Current certificate of training from a manufacturer of high mast lighting raising and lowering devices.
- Successful completion of the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) Cable Locating Course or the manufacturer course for their specific device.

Ability to lift to 50 pounds unassisted.
Use manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric powered tools and equipment.
Work Environment
Routine exposure to outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
Occasional exposure to wet/ humid conditions; high precarious places; fume or airborne particles.
Frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Frequent exposure to insects and infrequent exposure to reptiles/rodents.
The work environment noise level is usually moderate but on occasion can be more than moderate.
