Welder - 2nd shift (CDI) - Snap-on Inc

Overview

Salary Range $21 - $22 plus $2 for second shift (SECOND SHIFT ONLY - Monday - Friday 2 PM to 10:30 PM + possible overtime) 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

With minimal supervision, performs standard welding functions requiring interpretation of blueprints and the use of basic measuring tools.

• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
• Ensure quality and specification which requires use of calipers, micrometers and height gauge, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
• Repair and maintain equipment, machinery, and other components without compromising safety.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws and make necessary adjustments.
• Follow all safety protocols and standards. Work in a safe and efficient manner.

To perform this job successfully, the applicable candidate must be a team player.  

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a welder. Minimum one years’ experience in manufacturing GTAW (TIG welding) preferred or minimum 6-month vocational training. 
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective gear (clothing, face-shield, gloves, etc..)
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to use shop tools.
• Understanding welding fixtures.
• Must be able to use measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers and height gauge.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
