TOPS Staffing is currently looking to hire an experienced welder for a growing company in Petersburg, Virginia.
This position will involve welding in house at our client’s facility. No travel involved in this opportunity, work in the same shop every day and be home every night.
Job Details:
- 90 day contract to hire opportunity
- Starting pay rate based on experience but in the range of $20 to $24per hour
- Steady daylight shift
- Hours: 7am to 3:30pm schedule Monday to Friday
- Some overtime is available in this position, may include weekend work when needed
- Company offers a profit sharing and bonus opportunity once hired on directly with the company. Ask your recruiter for more details on this, as its a very competitive incentive program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- AWS certified welder qualified to AWS D1.1 is required and D1.5 is preferred willing to train and send somebody to obtain the D1.5 once on the job.
- Must be proficient doing Flux core/ Mig / Stick welding
- Will be doing structural fitting and welding of carbon steel beams of various size and thicknesses depending on application
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- AWS Certified in D1.1 required and D1.5 preferred welding codes
- 3+years of welding experience preferred
- Overhead crane operation experience is preferred but not required
- Must be ok with working in and outside the shop as we have a huge lay down yard, most of the work is done inside our shop but we sometimes are working out in the yard as well.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing
- Bend, crawl, kneel and sometimes climb on a regular basis.
- Push/ pulling of loaded carts
