ZI253 - Full-Time Live-in or Live-Out Housekeeper - Long Island, NY - British American Household Staffing

A warm, busy family recently arrived in Manhasset, Long Island, seeks a very detail-orientated and professional live-in or live-out housekeeper and cook for their 7,000sq ft home.  The usual live-out schedule will be Monday through Friday for around 45-50 hrs per week (so schedule could be 10am - 8pm for example), while live-in candidates would be expected to work more like 7am or 8am-8pm Monday through Friday (with time for a break during the day).  The family have extremely high standards and are looking for candidates who understand the requirements of a reasonably formal household, and who can deliver impeccable, hotel-style results.  There is a cleaning team that comes in once per week to conduct deep cleaning, so the housekeeper's focus will mainly be on everyday organising, tidying and cleaning the common areas of the home (eg. kitchen, living areas, bathrooms and bedrooms) plus cooking.  Candidates will not be responsible for the full 7,000 sq ft!

• All general housekeeping to include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, tidying and organising the main areas of the home
• Laundry and ironing
• Receiving and returning of parcels and deliveries
• Dealing with contractors and vendors when required
• Bi-weekly changing of bedlinen and towels
• Daily cleaning of bathrooms 
• Taking out garbage
• Online ordering for supplies and groceries
• Meal planning and cooking the evening meal for the whole family (parents and three children)
• Regular inventory check for all grocery items, cleaning supplies, and any other relevant household items

No specific qualifications are required, however the following experience and characteristics would be appreciated:

• Previous roles in high-end hotels
• Working as part of a domestic team in a private home
• Cooking for a family 
• A caring and nurturing personality, and a love for children
• A love for cooking 

Candidates will need to be flexible and happy to work as part of a team to support Mum and the family wherever needed.  Ideally, candidates should be:

• Native Spanish-speakers (the family speak Spanish within the home)
• Competent speaking English
• Confident drivers
• Confident cooks, happy to follow recipes and learn new ones with previous experience cooking for families
• Hard working
• Fit and active, able to manage a large home that includes a gym, pool, home office, multiple staircases and, of course, able to keep up with active and energetic young children
• Fantastic team players, with a pitch-in mentality and a positive outlook
• Capable of working to an extremely high standard and with leaving the home looking pristine at all times
• Comfortable working within a structured environment and open to direction, feedback and with working under the guidance of Mum
• Adaptable and flexible, and able to step up during busier periods (holidays, when extended family are visiting, when the parents are away or the family is travelling, for example)
