KBFS is seeking an A & P Mechanic to support our on-going efforts at Temple, TX.
Military experience is a plus. This is not a teleworking position.
Job Descriptions:
Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic manage and/or inspect aircraft maintenance activity, including overhaul, modifications, maintenance, and repair of aircraft structures, engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, and accessories. Schedule aircraft maintenance, considering such factors as work flow, location of equipment and facilities, required tools and test sets, supplies, and job requirements. Orders parts, lubricants, other supplies, etc., in a timely manner to minimize aircraft downtime for these items. Performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, to include airworthiness inspections, system troubleshooting, component replacement, powertrain adjustments, and electrical and avionics troubleshooting in accordance with FAA regulations and the manufacturer's specifications.
Duties:
- Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
- Makes entries into FAA required records, logbooks, and other means of historical data tracking.
- Assists the Inspection Authority (IA) in maintaining inventory of aircraft and avionics parts, tools, materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Coordinates with other employees for ordering parts and supplies in a timely manner to effectively maximize aircraft availability and minimize aircraft non-operational status.
- Communicates effectively with pilots, customers, and fellow employees and works well in a team environment.
- Ensures aircraft, ground support equipment, and work areas are maintained to professional standards.
- Performs additional duties as directed in support of the maintenance and site managers.
- Must be available to work a non-standard schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
Required skills:
- Experience interacting with Federal Aviation Administration Principal Operations Inspectors, Principal Maintenance Inspectors, or Aviation Safety Inspectors.
- Previously certified or qualified to perform aircraft engine ground runs or tests.
- Experience in repairing general aviation fixed-wing aircraft.
- Experience in rotary-wing aircraft is a plus for this position.
- Average skills at using the Microsoft Office Suite computer.
- Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies and components (e.g., engines, rotors, transmissions, flight controls, etc.).
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft, subassemblies, components, and aerospace ground support equipment.
- Assists in preparing aircraft for inspections and services.
- Performs scheduled inspections and services; annotates logbooks and records.
- Performs ground-run operational checks and troubleshooting.
- Accomplishes operator maintenance on ground support equipment, test sets, and special tools.
- Solves moderate problems by conducting analysis using manufacturer technical documentation.
- Uses available online manuals and industry-standardized documentation to access critical information for services.
- Works with supply personnel to order and receive parts per work order instructions.
- Accomplishes other support tasks as assigned by the Chief or Lead Mechanic.
Educations:
- High School Graduate and 2 years of direct relevant experience.
- Completed the Military Aircraft Repairer Course or holds an FAA A&P Mechanic Certificate.
