The Access Engineer II performs tasks related to deploying new technologies and upgrades to the current Access network infrastructure. Up to half of the expected responsibility of this position involves analysis, design, development, and testing.
What you will do to contribute to the company's success
- Performs implementation of new hardware and/or software as it relates to Access Engineering projects.
- Maintains the lifecycle management environment within the Data Center and Local Offices; Assists with upgrades to the Access Infrastructure and all-inclusive IP routing
- Assists with the creation of Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation for configuration templates, method of procedures, network diagrams, knowledge base articles, bill of materials and support documentation.
- The ability to drive resolution to projects and issues with little supervision
- Analyzes project requests to estimate time and cost.
- Works as part of a project team to determine requirements, risks, and limitations for each project scope.
- Performs on-call duties, customer equipment escalations, and overnight network changes as assigned
Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience
- BA/BS Degree preferred
- Associate and/or professional level network certification preferred
- IP Networking,
- SONET
- Ethernet,
- Fiber Network Design (PON)
- Network Performance Monitoring Tools,
- Cisco Switches & Routers, Juniper, Ciena, Alcatel, Calix.
- Cloud-Based Solutions,
- Microsoft Office Suite, (Project, Visio),
- Service Now Agile Methodology, Scrum Master
- The ability to produce clear, concise technical documentation.
- Experience with RF technologies
- Advanced technical certifications
