Job Description
- Manages work flow and achieves monthly goals of productivity. Runs reports on outstanding Encounters for charge capture.
- Checks batches as they are received in the CBO and prioritizes functionality to stay within acceptable departmental guidelines. Communicates with clinics and supervisor for receipt of missing charges at end of month.
- Checks accuracy of batches received from clinics for missing or incorrect information. Communicates with physician billing liaison and manager in order to assist practices.
- Reviews charges for appropriate modifiers and coordinating diagnosis. Communicates with coding department for necessary corrections on diagnosis. Gives incorrect encounter form to Charge Entry Supervisor to return to clinic for other corrections.
- Balances batches with payments for accurate posting of copays and patient payments.
- Verifies insurance information, enters into practice management system appropriately.
- Maintains information received from coding department to accurately post CPT and ICD-9 codes.
- Sends any necessary copies or supporting documentation required by insurance companies and patients.
- Answers healthcare account questions in a clear and polite manner; pulls transaction files/computer files as necessary to answer questions.
- Forwards all unresolved complex/problem questions to Supervisor, Business Services Manager, or Director of Physician Enterprise Business Operations.
Minimum Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Minimum Work Experience
- Six (6) months of relevant revenue cycle experience Required
- Experience in a healthcare insurance billing Preferred
