Overview
The Account Specialist - Payrolling plays a crucial role in managing payrolling operations and ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payments. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a customer-centric mindset to provide exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders. The Account Specialist will collaborate with various teams to streamline payrolling processes and maintain compliance with relevant regulations.
Key responsibilities
Manage end-to-end payrolling processes including data entry, payroll calculations, and disbursements
Resolve payrolling queries and issues from employees and clients in a timely manner
Ensure accuracy and compliance with payrolling regulations and company policies
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline payrolling processes and identify areas for improvement
Conduct regular audits to verify the accuracy of payrolls and address any discrepancies
Assist in the preparation of payrolling reports and provide insights for decision-making
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payrolling laws and regulations
Handle year-end payrolling activities including W-2 processing and reporting
Provide exceptional customer service to employees and clients regarding payrolling matters
Participate in payrolling system enhancements and updates
Contribute to the development and implementation of payrolling policies and procedures
Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate general ledger entries related to payrolling
Support special payrolling projects and initiatives as needed
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in payrolling
Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Proven experience in payrolling processes and demonstrated understanding of payrolling regulations
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret payrolling data and perform reconciliations
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in payrolling operations
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Proficiency in payrolling software and Microsoft Excel
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive payrolling information with integrity
Solid understanding of general accounting principles and practices
Prior experience in customer service or account management roles
Capability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic payrolling environment
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving payrolling issues
Knowledge of tax laws and regulations related to payrolling
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar payrolling certification is a plus
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple payrolling responsibilities effectively
Adherence to deadlines and a strong sense of accountability in payrolling tasks
