About the Job
Corps Team is seeking an Accountant with Life Insurance/industry experience for a direct hire role. The position will be fully on site in the convenient SouthPark/South Charlotte area.

Base Salary $100,000-$125,000. Final determination of salary will be based on an evaluation of experience, education, budget, etc.
Key responsibilities include
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, preparing necessary documentation
- Preparation for and facilitation of the completion of timely audits
- Taxes & Audit
- Coordinate the year end audit and tax process with all service providers (3rd party administrators
- Review schedules and reports for external tax preparers
- Perform review of returns
- Coordinate and ensure timely estimation of quarterly payments
- Financial Reporting
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Reconciliation of reports and bank accounts to underlying support
- Conduct analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements identifying key trends
- Management and ownership of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Real time Maintenance of capital allocation/ownership summaries
- Payroll Processing
- Payroll processing using third party platform
- Post payroll journal entries
- Employee Benefit Plan
- Remittance of 401K contributions
- Review of 5500 and compliance reports
- Preparation of 5500 schedules/workpapers
Key requirements, technical skills, competencies
- 4-year degree in Accounting and public accounting experience preferred. CPA a plus.
- 4-5+ years of experience in accounting for an insurance company, preferably within the life insurance industry
- Familiarity with statutory accounting principles (SAP) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as they pertain to insurance
- Understanding of state and federal regulations, particularly those governing the life insurance
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- An entrepreneurial mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented focus
- Experience working collaboratively with a remote team
- Comfortable working in a matrixed team structure
- Solid technology proficiency with
- MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Sage 100 or similar
- Ability to travel periodically for key meetings
- Possess exceptional organizational skills
- Must be detail and deadline oriented
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Must continuously demonstrate poise, tact, and diplomacy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
