Preparation of monthly journals for billing, general ledger oversight and audit responses. Reconciles accounts. Prepares financial statements including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flows. Provides guidance on cost accounting issues. Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. May include tax and cost accounting. Able to interact effectively with internal and external clients. Strong analytical abilities with advanced MS Excel skills.

1. Explain what the scope of the work/project is? Project Overview, deliverables (what is this person responsible for). This resource will be working within the commonalities space within the commercial accounting group. This team performs commercial accounting for the Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico regions. This team does a lot of the accounting and reporting associated with our commodity transactions, our generation of electricity and our acquisition of electricity and gas that we sell to customers including purchase power agreements, all the wind solar generation. This resource's first focus would be on our Texas and New Mexico wholesale billings process. Essentially, we have about 5 municipalities that we provide energy to, and this role would be focused mostly around ensuring that the energy that we charge them for is accurately recorded as well as reporting various associated reporting requirements.

1. What are the top 3-5 skills and qualifications required? Looking for someone that's naturally curious; looking for people that are going to question the status quo and can act as a change agent. The successful candidate should have 2-4 years of public accounting experience on the audit side of things or 4-8 years/accounting experience. Would be willing to look at less experience if they had a CPA, Masters, and/or experience working with the BIG4. Regulated utility experience is strongly preferred. Experience with automation tools like Microsoft PowerSuite and Alteryx is preferred. preferred. In addition to AI type tools or analysis type technology tools, those things can help quite a bit. Resume should include experience taking on projects.
