About the Job
The Accountant will play an integral role in the financial management and integrity of the Company. The position is responsible for a range of accounting activities to ensure timely and accurate financial and management reporting. The ideal candidate will manage the cash management and general ledger functions while also supporting interdependent processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset accounting. The Accountant will collaborate closely with the Controller in daily, weekly, and monthly processes and assist with particular financial analyses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day accounting activities including but not limited to; Entering bank transactions and reconciling bank activity and accounts; Assessing cash flow requirements and regulating account balances
- Reviewing and reconciling daily site sales to the general ledger; Identifying accounting discrepancies and making recommendations for amendments
- Maintaining and monitoring general ledger accounts and resolving reconciling items and issues noted in a timely manner
- Payroll: uploading general ledger entries, processing payments, and reconciling to bank activity; Preparing weekly labor reporting
- Processing accounts payable: inputting invoices, reconciling vendor statements, and preparing payments; Preparing weekly A/P report
- Monitoring accounts receivable and following up with customers on outstanding balances; preparing weekly A/R report
- Month-end closing accounting activities including but not limited to: Preparing, reviewing, and uploading monthly journal entries for month-end close
- Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and reports (balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows)
- Preparing and distributing monthly financial reporting package
- Conducting monthly bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulations P
- Participating in and representing the accounting department in site inventory audits
- Documenting and maintain accounting standard operating procedures
- Performing internal controls and making recommendations for safeguarding company assets
- Providing support for special projects and ad hoc financial analyses
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Ability to assess financial statements is absolutely required
- Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar role
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong desire for process improvement and technology deployment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Preferred Skills
- Experience with ERP systems
- Problem-solving skills and critical thinking
- Ability to connect day-to-day accounting processing to financial statements
