Position Summary
This Accountant position prepares balance sheet reconciliations and performs a variety of accounting duties in support of patient accounting functions. This position works closely with the Cash Applications Manager and is integral to the financial close process for all ECU Health hospitals and ECU Health Surgicenter. This position requires knowledge of general accounting principles and systems, as well as knowledge of patient accounting regulations and software to ensure the accurate maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts through accounting transactions and audit of financial records.
Responsibilities
Researches and resolves financial discrepancies with Third Party Payers and Banks.
Prepares account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Assists Manager of Cash Applications with the development and implementation of internal controls.
Maintains working knowledge Generally Accepting Account Principles (GAAP).
Appropriately documents and substantiates all financial transactions.
Documents account transactions as needed in the system.
Other duties as assigned, including special projects.
Protects patient confidentiality.
Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of General Ledger Advance accounts for all ECU Health Hospitals and Surgicenter.
Minimum Requirements
4 year college degree (4 yrs) in Accounting or Finance is required- or higher.
1 to 3 years General Accounting or Healthcare provider experience is preferred.
5 years of accounting related experience and an Associates Degree in Accounting can be substituted for the four year degree.
