Job DescriptionThe Accountant II plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records through general and sub-ledger entries, as well as reconciling bank and balance sheet accounts. This position is responsible for generating key financial reports, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
In times of corporate reorganization, accounting software transitions, audits, budget preparations, or other significant events, the Accountant II will provide essential financial information and generate reports to support these processes effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Timely and accurately records all semi-advanced journal entries following the corporate closing schedule
- Compiles financial results for the assigned areas in support of month-end close
- Research financial variances to support Senior Staff
- Provides timely and accurate preparation of semi-advanced assigned balance sheet reconciliations and month-end schedules
- Provides timely research and resolution of reconciling items with exceptions reported to management for review and consultation
- Carry out any reasonable request by management that the employee is capable of performing
- Assists with annual external audits
- Assists with budgets

- Willingness to work additional hours to meet financial reporting department deadlines.
- Proficient knowledge of various accounting software
- Proficient in Excel (ability to interpret and create spreadsheets), Word, Outlook
- Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on time management
- Detail-oriented and thorough with the ability to catch mistakes
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
Experience
- Must have a minimum of three to five years of relative experience in a month-end close general ledger environment.
Education & Certifications
- Must have a four-year degree in Accounting or Finance (Accounting strongly preferred) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills/Knowledge
- Experienced in or ability to write procedure manuals
- Ability to work independently and in a group environment (team player)
- Driven with the ability to problem solve and have a solution minded mentality
- Must be proficient in Excel ( interpret and create spreadsheets), Word, Outlook
