Openwork is partnering with Harris County to assist in their search for a qualified Accountant II. This is an on-site position with no remote or hybrid work options. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing detailed reviews of vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements related to task orders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify vendor invoices to ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
- Conduct thorough reviews of financial documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with task orders.
- Provide detailed reporting and analysis of vendor performance.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in invoices or financial documentation.
- Work independently while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to offer resolutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong reporting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a minimum of two (2) years of relevant accounting experience.
- Thorough knowledge of grants, specifically 2 CFR 200, HUD CDBG/CDBG-DR grants.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for government and not-for-profit entities.
Additional Information:
Eligible candidates will be subject to a background screening process, including checks for local, state, and national criminal history, drug screening, education verification, and employment verification. All screenings will be conducted in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Compensation:
- Hourly Rate: $15.98 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
