About the Job
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant with a strong background in general accounting to join the finance team of a leading medical practice in the Stateline area. This person will be responsible for general and cost accounting, audit support, A/P, and will participate in budgeting and planning processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with financial statement and support preparation as well as month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Monthly sales tax, yearly unclaimed property, and other state reporting requirements.
- Expense and credit card purchase review and reconciliation.
- Bank statement and accounts payable-related general ledger accounts reconciliation.
- Support internal and external audits with necessary information and documentation.
- Oversight of cost accounting for various business expenses.
- Process and review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of all A/P transactions, reconcile A/P sub-ledger to the GL monthly.
- Maintain and manage vendor records and relationships. Communicate effectively with vendors and internal staff to ensure smooth accounts payable operations.
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments, monitor accounts to ensure payments are current and resolve any discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounts payable function. Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in related regulations.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve invoice discrepancies and address payment issues and provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in general accounting and accounts payable with a demonstrated understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and organizational skills.
