About the Job
The Accountant prepares journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules associated with month-end close and the financial statement preparation. Works with the Senior Accountant in preparing financial statements and understanding variances/fluctuations in the statements. The Accountant also assists with various financial reports and department projects as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares and enters journal entries for financial statement preparation
- Updates accrual schedules
- Prepares accurate and timely account reconciliations
- Supports NorthStar Solutions Group (NSSG) billing and financial reporting
- Updates reports for quarterly Board meetings
- Works with the other accounting team members on preparation of annual budget
- Assists with the gathering of information for the annual audit
- Prepares schedules as needed for annual audit, 990, and Medicare cost reports
- Prepares miscellaneous annual reports to governing agencies
- Compiles and distributes the monthly budget-to-actual reports
- Provides financial analysis as needed and assists other leaders in understanding financial information
- Actively participates in meetings at the individual, group, and organizational levels, both within and external to the organization, to achieve desired outcomes
- Ensure timely distribution of statements and any other related reporting
- Utilizes allocated supplies and resources appropriately to ensure business outcomes are met.
- Actively participates in internal and external education, training, in-services, and other activities to promote personal and professional growth.
- Adjusts to changes in workload and schedules based on changing departmental and organizational priorities.
- Adheres to organizational Code of Conduct, policies, procedures, protocols, processes and all regulatory and legal requirements.

Supervision: Reports to the Manager, Accounting. No supervisory responsibilities. Able to consistently perform all responsibilities required of the role with minimal supervision from management and colleagues. The position may have indirect supervisory responsibilities for other Finance Staff and contractors/vendors.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of accounting experience required. Experience must include month-end close work and financial statement review/preparation.
- Healthcare accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Must be computer literate and experienced user of Microsoft Excel.
- Must possess emotional intelligence and the ability to promote positive, constructive relationships with communication and collaboration at all levels.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to comfortably interact at all social levels and with colleagues from many different backgrounds, ethnic origins and skill levels required.
- Must possess sound judgment; effective organizational, prioritization and follow-through skills; attention to detail; accuracy; dependability; tact; and ability to maintain confidential information.
- Must have ability to establish and maintain a rapport with employees, supervisors, department heads, and contacts external to NSCC.

- Ability to effectively use technology in support of management and clinical operations.

- The physical and sensory demands of the position include: vision, effective speech and hearing for extensive telephone contact; repetitive motion; traveling; driving or riding in motor vehicle; standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and stretching; lifting up to twenty five (25) pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to travel and maintain the rigors of a busy schedule. Frequently works variable hours/days; activities and workload may require extended days.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
