Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and regulatory reporting. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to work overtime during peak periods
Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares and reviews journal entries, month-end supporting detail and financial statements.
- Prepares financial reviews and reconciliations, using both standard and ad hoc reporting tools to analyze source data.
- Performs monthly variance analysis, accounting and accounting balancing.
- Takes a lead role in completing audit work papers.
- Takes a lead role in working with other departmental staff and departmental managers to prepare budget for multiple entities and responds to questions from managers.
- Complete regulatory reporting for areas assigned.
- Analyzes financial processes and opportunities to improve system financial performance.
- Understands Finance systems and is able to design reports.
- Responds to questions and explains procedures to other departmental staff.
- Completes special projects/pro forma financial analyses as assigned.
Education and Experience
BA in Accounting with a minimum of two years' experience in healthcare. Bachelors in related field will be considered, with five years relative experience, two of which have been in healthcare or an associate's with five years related experience, two of which are in healthcare
Certification and Licensure
CPA designation a plus, but not required
Skills and Abilities
Ability to think independently desired, but could be developed on the job.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and other departmental personnel.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be familiar with automated accounting systems and proficient in Excel or other spreadsheet application. Knowledge of word processing software is helpful.
