We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Permanent Accounting Analyst to join our team in the construction industry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your analytical skills and financial acumen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing financial reports, and providing data-driven insights to support strategic decision making. This position requires extensive experience in SQL, advanced Excel, job costs, budget vs. actual, data analytics, and financials. Experience in construction accounting is a significant plus. If you are a creative problem-solver with the ability to design and implement innovative solutions, we would like to meet you.
Responsibilities:
1. Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support.
2. Improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to management.
3. Coordinate with other members of the finance team to review financial information and forecasts.
4. Utilize advanced Excel skills to manipulate and analyze large data sets, develop automated reporting/forecasting tools.
5. Use SQL for data extraction and analysis, and to assist in the automation and optimization of data collection and reporting processes.
6. Analyze job costs, track budget vs. actual, and provide insightful reports to management.
7. Prepare concise and detailed financial reports, including but not limited to, monthly financial statements, budget vs. actual analysis, and project financial performance analysis.
8. Assist with the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
9. Provide creative yet logical approaches to solving complex problems.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial analysis role.
3. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.) and SQL.
4. Strong understanding of job costs and budget vs. actual analysis.
5. Proven expertise in financial data analytics and financial report preparation.
6. Experience in the construction industry or construction accounting is a plus.
7. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to create, implement, or design solutions.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.
10. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
11. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all work.
