Accounting Assistant - A/R - Northwest Naturals

The Accounting Assistant - A/R is responsible for accurately performing accounts receivable functions and assisting with other accounting functions. In addition, position maintains customer database and performs some costing functions as needed.
This position reports to the Financial Accounting Manager and does not supervise staff. They work closely with all departments and employees within NW Naturals and external customers.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Principles and practices of accounting.
- Customer credit checks and Dun & Bradstreet.
- Pertinent Federal and State laws, rules and requirements.
- Principles and practices of effective business communication.
- Office administrative and management practices and procedures, including record keeping and filing.
ABILITY TO:
- Maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Collect, organize and compile reports on information and data.
- Perform basic mathematical and accounting calculations.
- Effectively organize, plan, and execute.
- Use computers and computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Meet behaviors established in NW Naturals' performance management and development process.
EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/LICENSES, AND TRAINING:
- An associate degree in accounting or equivalent work experience in a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience performing general accounting, accounts receivable, and/or cost accounting
- Valid Notary Public License is a plus
