Overview:We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Clerk with a background in hospitality to join our team at the Residence Inn by Marriott Berkeley. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of hotel accounting systems and be able to assist in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting our accounting team.
The essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Generate and issue invoices to customers accurately and in a timely manner.
- Receive and record incoming payments, including checks and electronic transactions.
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies as they arise.
- Communicate with clients regarding payment status and outstanding invoices.
- Prepare regular reports on accounts receivable and aged receivables for management review.
- Maintain accurate records in our accounting software.
- Assist in the collections process for overdue accounts.
- Provide outstanding customer service by assisting customers with inquiries and resolving any issues.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with precision.
- Prepare and submit daily cash reports.
- Follow company policies regarding cash handling, security, and customer service.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: 1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hotel accounting systems (e.g., FOSSE, Opera, M3, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
