Job Summary:
We are seeking an Accounting Clerk to provide adept financial and administrative support to our accounting department with the utmost professionalism. A detail-oriented individual who is quick to learn and ideally has some accounting experience. This role involves various duties such as handling invoice processing for payments and assisting with purchasing requests, maintaining accounting records, recording payment transactions, and other accounting tasks as assigned. Training and resources will be provided by the company to ensure our Accounting Clerk is able to succeed in their role.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conducts reviews of invoices, inventory, and any billing exceptions.
- Reviews purchasing requests against budget and assists with asset management.
- Establishes and maintains recordkeeping system for purchasing department.
- Receives and verifies expense reports; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.
- Manages accounts payable using accounting software for separate entities and vendors.
- Researches vendors and collects prices, specifications, and other data as needed.
- Ensures bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.
- Processes transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling books of accounts.
- Types reports, purchase orders, memoranda, and other documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; BA degree in business, accounting or finance preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with QuickBooks is required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs.
- Ability to learn other accounting software systems, purchasing procedures and policies.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
