ACCOUNTING DIRECTOR/CONTROLLER
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Accounting/Controller - directs the department's activities and resources to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the department and organization.
The Director of Accounting/Controller requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work without supervision.
You must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and other contacts.
Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment. Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
The Director of Accounting/Controller directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
Ensures the department stays focused on its important role in the continuum of care
• Must have the ability to describe and conduct a “Huddle” and explain when it is conducted and what is discussed.
• Must have the ability to describe and conduct a “Brief” and explain when it is conducted and what is discussed.
• Must have the ability to describe and conduct a “De-Brief” and explain when it is conducted and what is discussed.
• Must have the ability to describe the “Learning Board” and give an example of what has been put on the learning board in past.
• Must have the ability to communicate what Executive Patient Safety Rounds (EPSR) are and participate when ESPRs are conducted.
EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting Required
3 to 5 years of leadership is required in an acute care setting.
