JOB DESCRIPTION:
Summary/Overview
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all aspects of preparation of monthly journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, analyzing balance sheet accounts and ledger accounts reconciliation, month-end and year-end closings, preparation of the financial reports and statements, reconciliation of bank statements and payroll reports, preparation of budgets for certain programs, fiscal monitoring of direct service vendors, direct interaction with outside auditor regarding annual audit, preparation of monthly billings to funding agencies and other billable entities, and supervision of all aspects of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing personnel.
Essential Functions: Essential Job functions: Duties ___ through ___are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job. [TBD] All other job duties are secondary functions.
- Train and supervise all fiscal staff in the preparation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice verification, and billings to funding agencies.
- Prepare and or review monthly journal entries including prepaid expenses,
- Accruals, accumulated depreciation, bank account activities, and indirect cost allocation.
- Participate in analyzing and reporting Purchased Service data
- Assist in the preparation of Financial Statements for month and year end closings in a timely manner. Analyze balance sheet accounts and reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
- Prepare back-up materials for outside auditor and assist auditor with access to materials and information relative to the preparation of the audit.
- Prepare and conduct annual performance reviews for the fiscal staff.
- Participate actively in the ongoing activities of the agency by being involved in certain department meetings including the Co-Payment Adjustment Review and certain Direct Service meetings.
- Help achieve goal of providing excellent customer service to both internal (i.e. other BSHC departments) and external customers. Provide assistance to the agency staff as needed. This assistance may include preparing certain program budgets, assisting in annual vendor monitoring, assisting with basic troubleshooting and report writing.

- Proficiency in Excel spreadsheet, knowledge of Solomon/Dynamics accounting software and Microsoft Word preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position will initially supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable staff.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Travel:
This position requires minimal travel.
Required Education and Experience:
- BS in accounting or BS in management with accounting concentration is required.
- One to three years general accounting experience required.
