Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial operations of our manufacturing organization, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role will be responsible for the full accounting cycle, including month-end close, payroll processing, fixed asset tracking, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in manufacturing environments and a deep understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities:
· Month-End Close Procedures:
Execute month-end closing activities including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
Review month-end AP accruals and ensure a timely recording of expenses.
Analyze financial statements and report variances to management.
· General Ledger Management:
Prepare and review assigned general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
Maintain and manage accounting records, ensuring data integrity and timely financial reporting.
· Payroll Processing:
Oversee and process payroll ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Reconcile payroll-related accounts and ensure proper tax withholdings and benefits deductions.
· Credit Monitoring and Collections:
Monitor daily credit activities, manage accounts receivable collections, and ensure proper cash flow management.
Collaborate with the finance team to improve cash collection and mitigate credit risk.
· Fixed Assets and Capital Accounting:
Track and monitor company fixed assets, including the calculation and recording of depreciation.
Compute and analyze capitalized overhead, labor, and freight costs, ensuring accurate reporting and classification.
· Cost Accounting and Inventory:
Collaborate with the manufacturing and operations teams to analyze inventory levels, costs, and production variances.
Provide cost accounting insights to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
· Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Analyze and report on monthly departmental results, providing insights into budget vs. actual performance.
Prepare monthly commissions reports and assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
· Backup for Accounts Payable (AP):
Serve as backup support for the AP team, assisting with invoice processing and vendor payments when necessary.
· Special Projects:
Work on special accounting and financial projects as needed, including system upgrades and process improvements.
Required Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Experience:
Minimum of 4+ years of full-cycle accounting experience.
At least 2+ years in a manufacturing environment with a solid understanding of cost accounting and inventory management.
· Technical Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP.
Experience working with integrated ERP systems.
Thorough knowledge of GAAP, including principles, theories, and concepts in accounting.
· Preferred:
Exposure to credit and collections processes.
Familiarity with payroll systems and processes.

Working Conditions:
· This role operates in an office and manufacturing setting, with occasional interaction on the factory floor.
· Some extended hours may be required during peak periods, such as month-end and year-end close.
