About the Job
We’re currently recruiting for an Accounting Manager for a growing, private company that is located in Charlottesville, VA.
This role will manage a team of 2-3 accountants, report to the Controller, and work closely with the CFO and senior leadership. The team is working a hybrid schedule and going onsite to the office in Charlottesville 2 to 3 days a week.
Job Summary
Ensure the accuracy of the financial statements by performing and supervising various accounting duties including, but not limited to, month end closing, revenue recognition, customer rebates, leases, inventory and standard costing, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep financial expertise, and a willingness to roll up his or her sleeves and grow professionally within a fast-paced environment. He or she will have the ability to collaborate cross-departmentally and with our clients to ensure prompt and accurate information.
The Accounting Manager will assist with the following functions:
Accounting
• Prepare and approve detailed journal entries and account analyses in ERP system
• Maintain the GL System
• Research accounting issue for compliance with GAAP
• Complete bank reconciliations
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Complete bulk check uploads in NetSuite as well as one-off check printing
• Prepare and review client invoices
• Conduct A/R aging analysis
• Serve as the account manager for Bill Pay / Expense software and credit card collections software
Budgeting
• Assist the Controller and CFO with the annual budget process, as well as continuous budget review
• Enter wire transfers in bank website
Reporting and Compliance
• Prepare weekly enrollment reports for company distribution
• Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Create quarterly board reports and monthly lender reports
• Maintain business licenses
• Generate 1099s
Team Leadership
• Train and supervise 2-3 Accounting Associates, including daily oversight, assigning tasks, serving as an escalation point, and champion for employee development
Required Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years of public accounting or large corporate accounting experience
- Minimum 2+ years of management/leadership experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and ERP systems
- Solid operational and technical accounting skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
